Nursing is one of the occupations regional Queensland employers sponsor most often, and the pathway differs depending on whether you trained in Australia or overseas.

Registration first

AHPRA registration must be in place before any employer can nominate you. Overseas-trained nurses usually need an outcomes-based assessment and an English test.

Employer sponsorship

Regional employers can nominate for skilled visas where the local labour market cannot fill a role. Confirm the occupation appears on the relevant list and that the employer is an approved sponsor before resigning from a current job.
