Privacy Policy

Draft — Pending legal review

Last updated: 1 November 2026

This policy explains the personal information RegionalOZ expects to collect, why it is collected, how it is intended to be used, and the choices available to you. It is written against the Australian Privacy Principles and also considers the expectations of visitors outside Australia.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to RegionalOZ.com and to services offered through it, including the free research account, the migration agent directory, RegionalOZ Press pages and contributor submissions.

It does not apply to third-party websites linked from RegionalOZ, including government agencies, professional practices or payment providers, which operate under their own privacy policies.

2. Personal information we collect

Personal information means information about an identifiable individual. RegionalOZ intends to collect only what is needed to operate the platform.

  • Account information such as name, email address and password credentials.
  • Research preferences and saved items you create inside the research workspace.
  • Enquiry details you submit through contact or contributor forms.
  • Technical information such as browser type, device category, approximate location and pages visited.
  • Communications you send to RegionalOZ and our responses.

3. Account information

Creating a free research account is intended to require an email address and basic account details. Authentication is handled by our platform provider, and RegionalOZ does not intend to store payment card details for free accounts.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for the activity that occurs under your account.

4. Research preferences and saved research

The research workspace stores the comparisons, saved pages and notes you choose to keep so that you can return to your research on another device.

This content is used to provide the service to you. RegionalOZ does not intend to sell research content or use it to target advertising.

5. Communications and email consent

Service messages about your account or a request you made may be sent regardless of marketing preferences because they are necessary to provide the service.

Marketing communications, such as RegionalOZ Press announcements or platform updates, are intended to be sent only where you have opted in. Each message will include a way to unsubscribe, and opting out will not affect service messages.

6. Cookies and analytics

RegionalOZ intends to use cookies and similar storage for essential functions such as keeping you signed in, remembering preferences and measuring whether pages are working correctly.

Analytics are intended to be configured to avoid collecting unnecessary personal information. Where non-essential cookies are introduced, consent will be requested and the Cookie Policy will describe the categories in use. A consent-management system is not yet implemented.

7. Third-party services

RegionalOZ relies on service providers for hosting, authentication, email delivery and, where applicable, payment processing for agent memberships. These providers process information on our instructions and under their own terms.

Links to government registers, migration agent practices and publishers are provided for research. Following those links takes you to services outside our control.

8. Data retention

Account information is intended to be retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting and security obligations.

Records that are no longer needed for a documented purpose will be deleted or de-identified. Retention periods for specific categories will be documented before the account system goes live.

9. Access and correction

You may request access to the personal information RegionalOZ holds about you, ask for corrections, or request deletion of your account and saved research.

Requests will be handled through the privacy contact once configured. RegionalOZ may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and may retain limited records where the law requires it.

10. Security practices

RegionalOZ intends to apply access controls, encrypted connections and least-privilege access for administrative functions. No specific certification, audit or security standard should be assumed, because none has been obtained.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us so the account can be secured.

11. Cross-border data handling

Our hosting and service providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where that occurs, RegionalOZ intends to rely on contractual safeguards and to disclose the arrangements that apply.

The specific provider locations and safeguards will be confirmed before the account system handles personal information at scale.

12. Privacy contact and complaints

Privacy questions, access requests and complaints should be directed through the contact page using the privacy category. A dedicated privacy address will be published once configured.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to raise the matter with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or with a relevant regulator in your own jurisdiction.

Questions or requests

Written enquiries can be directed through the contact page. Formal contact addresses, entity details and jurisdiction clauses will be confirmed before publication.
